Our Story

Our Torah Journey started in 2011 when the Ogbinar Family hosted once a month prayer meetings and Torah studies in the Evergreen Community South-West of Calgary Alberta Canada.

Soon other families opened their houses for Shabbat afternoon Torah teaching sessions and ushered them to Beth Shechinah Messianic Congregation for community fellowship.

We held our first Passover celebration as a Home Group on the same year at the House of Rose Oloan in Evergreen. The next year in Coral Springs NE and in 2013 in Somerset SW Calgary and every year since then as a growing independent messianic fellowship.

The Beit Din of the United Messianic Jewish Assembly chartered our then small fellowship into the larger UMJA association of Messianic Congregations on January 8,2016.

In the Summer of 2016 we hosted Roger Walkwitz of the Asia Pacific Messianic Fellowship of Morriston Florida as our Guest Speaker in our first ever Summer Bible Conference held at the Ministry Center of Pavilion of Hope Baptist Church in Queensland Dr in the SE.

Ben Frostad and Family came for our 2017 Bible Conference. Ben is the publisher of "Messiah to the Nations" magazine and Segullah.net.

The next year we welcomed David and Josie Silver of Out of Zion Ministries based in Haifa, Israel as our guest speaker to the Conference.

In June of 2019, Bro Louwell was appointed as Elder to the now growing L'chaim Bible Congregation of torah pursuant believers by the Beit Din of the UMJA. August of the same year Louwell resigned as one of the teaching Elders of Beth Shechinah to lead L'chaim and its families. Louwell is an ordained Ro'eh (Pastor) and Messianic Minister.

COVID hit Canada by the winter of 2019-2020.

Calgary L'chaim Bible Fellowship officially incorporated in Alberta August 25, 2020. and on November 16, 2022 registered as a Charity under the Federal Government of Canada.

As the body of believers continue to grow in number Bro Marvin and Bro Etune stepped in to help in the Eldership of the Community.
